Blackout for BlackBerry

Blackout for BlackBerry

Device management for disconnected handhelds.

Clean the contents from your lost or stolen BlackBerry smartphone, always...

The security of the BlackBerry® platform is recognized as superior to all other mobile systems. But what if your corporate BlackBerry smartphone is lost or stolen and is therefore no longer connected to your BlackBerry® Enterprise Server because someone removed the SIM card? Or what if you’re a BlackBerry® Internet Service or solution pre-paid user? Sending a wipe command to your BlackBerry smartphone is not an option. BlackOut for BlackBerry smartphones reduces the risk of data theft from a lost or stolen BlackBerry smartphone. It wipes itself when adjustable triggers (setup using IT-policies or our online portal) are met.

BlackOut triggers
  • your BlackBerry smartphone hasn’t contacted your BlackBerry Enterprise Server for a specified number of days
  • your BlackBerry smartphone is connected to an untrusted mobile network
  • a foreign sim card is inserted in your BlackBerry smartphone
  • your BlackBerry smartphone receives a wipe command via an sms message from a pre-defined authorized number
  • your BlackBerry receives a wipe command via e-mail from a pre-defined e‑mail address
  • your BlackBerry smartphone receives a ‘Where am I’ command via an sms message from an authorized number
  • custom development of triggers and consequent behaviour is possible

BlackOut events
These rules trigger your BlackBerry smartphone to wipe itself and send an additional SMS or e‑mail message to a pre-defined number or e‑mail address. This message will carry information about GPS location, mobile service provider and telephone number (if possible).
